Welcome To Schlock Horror!

Welcome to my blog Schlock Horror.

The good, the bad and the downright terrible of horror cinema. This little blog will be an amalgamation of all things relating to Horror, Thriller, and Sci-Fi cinema. My hope and overall goal with my blog is to do what I love most which is to review as many horror movies and gain a reader base who will like to get involved and discuss all things horror cinema.

The plan is to start out reviewing movies and build my readership and hopefully, once I have a few readers, I'll expand into other areas and slowly add in posts with relation to daily news, lists, polls, TV-based horror and so much more. I want this horror blog to be the best it can possibly be and a fun place for all my readers. So if you have any suggestions for improvements or just want to see something on the blog, I'll try my best to accommodate. I welcome all types of feedback.

In terms of reviewing content, no sub-genre will be left unreviewed. I hope to review the very best of what the horror genre has to offer as well as the very worst. My plan is to scrape the bottom of the barrel in my search for all things horror cinema. If you have something that you want to see reviewed, you can always leave a comment or follow my accompanying Twitter: @SchlockHorror with suggestions.

I'm also in the small minority of Horror Bloggers that will deliver his reviews from an LGBT perspective. My reviews will sadly not contain a section that's dedicated to how much female nudity is displayed in a movie. That spot will, however, be reserved for death tolls and its gore factor. I hope to keep it all about the movies themselves and not gratuitous tits and ass posts. Don't fear, though, I'm still planning to do a best 'Scream Queen' list at some point with photos included.

Now a little about myself. I have been a long time fan of horror as far back as I can remember. I remember first sitting down with my father to watch Jaws when I was five years of age. It was just after watching Jaws where I was utterly shaken to my core and repulsed at what I just saw but at the same time extremely intrigued due to the feeling of being scared out of my wits. It wasn't until I started working in a video store in my early teens where I really fell in love with horror. At first being repulsed and freaked out by the gory VHS covers to slowly seeking out extreme cinema and delving into the really twisted stuff.

So with all the salutations out of the way. Please keep an eye out for all of my future reviews. Follow my Twitter to see all the latest blog updates and news. Over the next few weeks, I will try to work on ironing out any of the kinks with the blog to make it the best possible blog it can be. Look forward to discussing horror with all of you.

  1. Great opening post. I look forward to reading your reviews & participating in discussions.

  2. The first few reviews will be up in the next couple of days. Thanks for reading.

  3. 1. Congratulations!
    2. My 1st horror movie (that I can remember) was The Howling. Saw it with my dad and there it began my fear of werewolfs and my love for scary movies. BTW I'm not afraid of werewolfs anymore...

  4. I myself haven't seen The Howling in about 20 years. It also scared me as a kid. Not as much as the Gross Hag in House though.
